Tsumiki no Kai (Building-Blocks Association)

 

　About Tsumiki :

Tsumiki is a Japanese nonprofit organization for parents who have children with autism and those who work with them in various educational settings. Our main purpose is to spread of understanding of Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA), more specifically Early Intensive Behavioral Interventions (EIBI) across the nation.

Our head office is located in the city of Akashi, Hyogo prefecture, the western part of Japan and our activities include regular meetings which are held monthly in 8 prefectures across the country by rotation. There are 835 regular members in Japan and 63 regular members abroad (As of the end of 2006). The majority of the members are parents of child on autism spectrum, and others include doctors, ABA therapists, Speech-Language Pathologists, and teachers.

 

　Our Activities:

-          Regular meetings/Parent Support Group

Members who are residents in the area meet regularly from once a month to once every three months or they sometimes coordinate meetings according to their schedule. At the meetings, Mr. Fujisaka, the president of Tsumiki and/or specialists are invited to give a presentation on special education in Japan and ABA, and sometimes the attendees have a chance to observe an actual ABA session between Mr. Fujisaka and a child volunteer. Members are also welcome to share and exchange information. These meetings are open to non-members as well.

-          Workshops

A 6-day small-group workshop is held in Kobe, Hyogo, for the parents of child on autism spectrum in February or March every year. From once a month to once every three months, study groups for ABA therapists are organized in Tokyo, Nagoya, Osaka as well as Kobe.

-          Textbooks/DVD

Our original ABA textbooks and DVD which explains ABA methods are available for purchase to regular members of Tsumiki. Sorry, Japanese only.

-          Mailing List

Our “Tsumiki Mailing List” is available on the internet to members only to exchange information. Sorry, Japanese only.

 

　Join/Renew

To become a regular member and renew membership, pay a one-time-only enrollment fee of \4,000 and an annual membership fee of \8,000 into a designated bank account. Accordingly, please send/e-mail the necessary information to our head office. However, members who live outside of Japan are exempt from paying the enrollment fee and annual fee.
